Ethiopian Green Beans and Potatoes

6 small red potatoes
1/2 lb. green beans, cut into 1" sections
1 T olive oil
1 small yellow onion, chopped fine
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small jalapeno, seeded and minced
1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. salt
1 15 oz can diced tomatoes
the juice of 1/2 a lime

In a medium saucepan, place the potatoes in enough boiling water to cover.  Cook for 12 minutes.  Add the green beans and cook another 5 minutes.  Drain the potatoes and green beans.  Let the potatoes cool, then chop them.

In a large skillet, heat the oil.  Add the onion, garlic, and pepper and saute for about 4 minutes.  Stir in the seasonings and saute for another minute.  Add the potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, and lime juice and cook for 10 minutes more over medium heat, stirring frequently.

Serve warm.
